Blood Donation Drive at Tata Steel Kalinganagar

~ 382 units of blood donated

Bhubaneswar: As part of the ongoing month-long observance of 34th Road Safety Month at Tata Steel Kalinganagar, a blood donation drive was organised by Logistics Department, Tata Steel Kalinganagar (TSK) in association with Safety Department, TSK, Central Red Cross Blood Bank, Cuttack and Odisha Blood Centre, Jajpur District Headquarter Hospital at Green Transport Park, Tata Steel Kalinganagar on Monday.
The blood donation drive with the theme ‘Blood is not for Road’ was inaugurated by Mr C L Karn, Chief, Logistics Operations, TSK in the presence of Mr R S Mishra, Chief Safety (Operations), TSK and other senior officials of Tata Steel Kalinganagar.
Employees of Tata Steel and various vendor partners voluntarily lined up to donate blood during the whole day. A total of 382 units of blood were collected through the programme.
Speaking about the blood donation drive, C L Karn said, “We are glad to organise a camp like this, it helps people in need of blood at the blood bank. It is a life-saving move and an attempt to give back to the society and help the needy.”
It may be noted here that during the month-long awareness celebrations, the importance of road safety will be communicated in a lucid manner and efforts will be made to make people understand and appreciate their responsibilities towards road safety, as responsible citizens. It may be noted here that the month-long events will focus on behaviour change communication with the theme “Break the Habit – Don’t Drive Rashly.”
