Odisha Startup Yatra and Startup Xpress gathering over 1,500 innovative ideas in just 11 days

  • 159 ideas were pitched across 7 Colleges and 5 schools with participation from 1212 students on Wednesday
  • Vans will tour Deogarh, Balangir, Kalahandi and Dhenkanal on Thursday, 28th September

Bhubaneswar, 27th September, 2023: Odisha Startup Yatra and Startup Express today achieved a phenomenal feat of gathering more than 1500 ideas from the student community. As the Yatra expands it reach to far flung areas and educational institutes, the number of participating students has increased substantially. As Odisha aspires to recognise and nurture 5000 Startups by 2025, Odisha Startup Yatra and Startup Xpress plays an important role in shaping the ecosystem. It becomes a launch pad for idea generation from school and college students thus setting a high benchmark with sophisticated ideas.

So far, the Yatra has covered 17 districts of the state, visiting 106 colleges and 34 schools with participation from more than 14,782 students. On Wednesday, the vans visited 7 colleges and 3 schools, while two bootcamps were conducted in Jagatsinghpur district and received 159 ideas with participation from 1212 students.

In Keonjhar, the Yatra covered 4 Colleges and One school namely Odisha School of Mining Engineering, Keonjhar School of Engineering, Dharanidhar Autonomous College, Govt College of Engineering & DN High School Keonjhar respectively. In Baragarh, the vans visited George High School & Imperial College Bargarh. While in Rayagada, the vans reached out to Gayatri Institute of Science and Technology, Gandhi Institute of Advance Computer and Research & Gandhi Public School. On the sidelines of Startup Yatra, two Bootcamps were also conducted in Bhadrak district – Nandigaon High School & Jumb High School.

The excitement and enthusiasm from the student community was palpable with their passionate pitches.

Odisha Startup Yatra & Xpress, taking its journey forward will tour Deogarh, Balangir, Kalahandi and Dhenkanal on September 28 (Thursday) to foster entrepreneurship and innovation at district level.

On Thursday Odisha Startup Yatra & Xpress will cover 3 colleges and one school of Deogarh District namely Model Degree College, +3 Degree Women’s College, Govt. Polytechnic & Govt. Girls High School respectively. In Balangir, the vans will visit PP Academy, JSM Commerce Degree College, Rajendra University & Govt Polytechnic. In Kalahandi District, the vans will reach out to Kalahandi University, College of Agriculture (Bhawanipatna) & Govt College of Engineering. In Dhenkanal District, the vans will visit IGIT Sarang, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Synergy Institute of Engineering and Technology & Dhenkanal Autonomous College.

The aim of Startup Odisha Yatra and Startup Xpress 2023 is to encourage grassroots innovators and promote entrepreneurship among them. In 2023 edition of the Yatra, Startup Odisha has four dedicated vans that will cover all 30 districts of the state.

After remarkable achievements in the past edition, this year Odisha Startup Yatra aims to leap forward by visiting 200+ colleges and 60+ schools thus impacting 25,000+ students. With a core focus on guiding and empowering young minds at the grassroot level in the realms of innovation and entrepreneurship, the initiatives seek to equip them for harnessing the ample opportunities within the startup ecosystem.
