U.S. journalist sentenced to 11 years in prison in Myanmar for treason allegation

Myanmar: A black chapter has been added to the history of world journalism today . A military court in Myanmar   sentenced American journalist Daniel Fenster to 11 years in prison. Fenster, a 36-year-old journalist, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for having links to illegal organizations in the country and violating visa rules. Daniel Fenster, managing editor of Myanmar’s online magazine Frontier, has been convicted of having links with illegal organizations in Myanmar’s military and violating visa rules.

The U.S. journalist was arrested on May 24, 2021, after a change of government in Myanmar. Journalist Fenster has serious allegations of terrorism and sedition by military rulers of the country. It is to be noted that after the Burmese military uprising on February 1, 2021, the elected government in Myanmar was overthrown and the Myanmar army took control of the country. American journalist Danny is the only foreign journalist to have been severely punished.

More than 100 journalists have been arrested so far. Of these, 30 journalists have been imprisoned in several prisons across the country. The country was bleeding profusely as a result of military action. In which thousands of innocent people were killed
