Flood damage reports came in; 1 lakh 20 thousand hectares of agricultural land affected

Bhubaneswar: The flood damage report has been received while the rains and floods have caused widespread damage in the state. This time the flood has completely broken the backbone of the farmers. It has been found that 1 lakh 20 thousand hectares of agricultural land has been badly affected in the current floods.

Farmers in 24 districts of the state have been affected by floods and rains. Farmers in 10 districts have suffered the most damage. Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada and Puri districts are reported to have lost more farmland. In Jagatsinghpur, the maximum 2420 hectares of agricultural land was damaged in the flood, yesterday, the Agriculture Minister reviewed the loss of the farmers.

Agriculture Minister Ranendra Pratap has directed the management director of the seed corporation to provide seeds of all varieties of rice, pulses, and cinnamon seeds to the flood-affected districts as soon as possible by September.

This was said while reviewing the flood and rain-related damage to Kharif crops and livestock and fisheries. He emphasized on the provision of hybrid seeds, cauliflower, banana. Officials have been asked to hold talks with the concerned companies to provide crop insurance to the affected farmers as soon as possible.
